The passing of three respected club members

It is with great regret that we have to inform the Golf Club Membership of the unfortunate deaths of three of our dear members.

 June Mason

June's membership of the club spanned many years and was an extremely accomplished golfer of the highest standard being Ladies Club Champion on no fewer than five occasions 1995, 1997, 1998, 2005 & 2006 besides being Ladies Captain in 2002 & 2003.

Whilst June had not enjoyed good health in recent years and she passed away on 21st March 2018

Arthur Thomas

Arthur will be sorely missed. As an active member of our golf club he will be well remembered for his generosity in sponsoring the Arthur Thomas Trophy and providing the prizes over many years.

Arthur was certainly not born with a silver spoon in his mouth but by his hard work became a great success within the building trade, in more recent years he formed a very successful wood working machinery refurbishment company.

Arthur has battled for many years with cancer with remission followed by relapse on several occasions. He unfortunately succumbed to this dreadful disease on the 4th April 2018 in New Cross Hospital.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at St Bartholomew’s Church Penn WV4 5JD at 3.00pm Tuesday 1st May 2018 followed by a cremation at Gornal Wood Crematorium 4.10pm.

Afterwards at 263 Castlecroft Road Lower Penn WV3 8NA.

Family flowers only.

Donations to the Haematology Unit New Cross Hospital.

Roger Perry is collecting any donations you wish to make.

Les Renwick

Les died on 4th April 2018 as what can only be described as significant fracture to his head resulting from some kind of fall.

Les was only 64 years old. He served as a Prison Officer for many years prior to his retirement, he will be remembered by all the early morning golfers for his extremely pleasant demeanour.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on 3rd May 2018 at 1-45pm at the Methodist Chapel Common Road Wombourne followed by a wake at the Staffordshire Golf Club.
